Alastair McLeod is justifiably proud of his penchant for fresh local produce and he’s sharing it with Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival visitors at a special event. Together with Darren Jahn from the acclaimed Robert Oatley winery, Alastair will share his intimate knowledge of the best flavours from the Moreton Bay region at the Big Buffet Lunch on Saturday.
As a proud Samford local, celebrity chef and Food + Wine Festival regular, Alastair’s perfectly positioned to dish up inside knowledge about where to find the best ingredients and how to use them. Having lived in the region with wife Ashleigh for more than a decade, he’s formed close bonds with many local producers including Loop Growers, Millen Farm, Blue Dog Farm, LuvaBerry and Basilea Living Herbs.
He says the Moreton Bay region is home to a diverse range of food producers and it’s important we support them, so they are there for generations to come. Alastair believes there are moral, financial and ethical reasons why we should seek out local produce. He loves the romance of waiting for strawberries, asparagus and broccoli to come in to season, and he loves that home cooks at his demonstrations are keen to learn more. Complementing Alastair’s produce insights, Robert Oatley marketing and communications manager Darren Jahn will share his decades of knowledge about wine. A regular panellist at food and wine forums, Darren is well placed to pass on his passion for the good things in life.
